What is a Wine Bar ?

As we started this journey to find the best wine bars around the world, we decided to set some criteria to define a wine bar.

Generally fall in to three categories.

Conventional wine bar:

1. Does not serve cocktails (wine and beer only)
2. Several selections by the glass
3. Curated wine list
4. Wine Bar snacks that compliment your wine experience

Restaurant wine bar or bistro:

1. Separate bar or lounge area
2. Must be able to stop and enjoy glass of wine without pressure to order entrees or food
3. Curated wine list with several selections of wine by the glass
4. Wine Bar snacks that compliment your wine experience

Wine tasting room:

1. Affiliated with one or more wineries
